General Information
Welding Technology is a comprehensive program leading to the Associate
of Applied Science Degree. The program is designed to prepare graduates
for employment or advancement as technicians, operators, or first-time
supervisors in industrial manufacturing organizations that utilize welding
procedures. Students will learn the processes and techniques involved
in industrial welding. Appropriate materials, tools, and equipment are
discussed, along with the weld design, code application, and weld inspection.

The Program
The Welding Technology program at Heartland Community College
requires 63 credit hours and will prepare students:
- with broad technical skills
- with in-depth expertise in Shielded Metal Arc Welding
and Gas Tungsten Arc Welding
- with a strong background of manufacturing skills
Career Opportunities
Upon completion of the program, students
will be able to seek entry-level employment in the areas of metal products,
transportation equipment, construction, maintenance, machinery, and
the mining industry or in machine/welding shops.
